Show your latest blog posts on any page. Use it to share news, tips and product stories.

The Blog posts section shows the latest posts from one of your blogs, with their featured image, title, date, author and a short excerpt. Shoppers click a post to read it.

1. Our guide to set up a Blog posts section:

Steps:

  • In the theme editor, click Add section.

  • Locate Blog posts.

  • Click Save.

2. Section settings

  • Section header

    • Heading: The title above the posts. Leave it blank to hide it.

    • Heading size: 15–80px.

    • Heading alignment: Left / Center. With Left, the View all link sits next to the heading. With Center, it becomes a View all button below the posts.

  • General

    • Blog: The blog to show posts from.

    • Blog posts: How many of the latest posts to show, 2–4.

    • Show featured image: Shows each post's featured image.

    • Image ratio: Adapt to image / Square / Portrait / Landscape.

    • Show date: Shows the date the post was published.

    • Show author: Shows the post's author.

    • Enable "View all" button if blog includes more blog posts than shown: Adds a link to your blog. It only appears when the blog has more posts than the section shows.

    • Color scheme: The colors of the section.

  • Corner radius

    • Corner radius: 0–40px. With the Background 1 color scheme, it rounds the post images. With any other scheme, it rounds the whole post card.

  • Section padding

    • Top padding and Bottom padding: 0–100px.

Each post shows the first 30 words of its excerpt. If a post has no excerpt, the first 30 words of its content are shown instead.

3. How to add a blog post to your online store:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Content → Blog posts → Add blog post.

  • For the Blog posts section to look its best, give every post a Title, Content, a Featured image and an Excerpt.

  • Click Save.

4. Tips

  • Write a short excerpt (under 30 words) for each post so the text isn't cut off mid-sentence.

  • Use featured images with a similar shape, or pick an Image ratio other than Adapt to image, so the cards line up.

  • Want one large post next to a list of others? Try Blog: Featured article.
