# Email signup banner

Collect email signups on your password page while your store is closed, with a heading, a short message and a signup form over an image or a solid color.

***

The **Email signup banner** is the main section of your store's password page, the page visitors see while your store is password protected. Use it to say your store is opening soon and collect email addresses from people who want to hear when you launch.

This section is only available on the **Password** page template. For a signup form on other pages, use the [Email signup](/articles/sections/theme-sections/email-signup.md) section.

Each email subscription creates a customer account in your Shopify admin, tagged **newsletter**. You'll find them under **Customers**.
{% endhint %}

### 1. Our guide to set up an Email signup banner section:

{% hint style="info" %}
**Steps:**

* In the theme editor, open the page selector at the top of the screen.
* Choose **Others** → **Password**.
* In the left sidebar, click **Email signup banner** to edit it. If you've removed it, click **Add section** and locate **Email signup banner.**
* Click **Save.**
  {% endhint %}

The password page only shows to visitors while your store is password protected. You can edit it in the theme editor at any time. Its logo and footer are set in the **Password header** and **Password footer** sections on the same template. Visitors who have the password can enter it from the header link.

### 2. Section settings

* **Color scheme:** The colors of the content box. When **Show background image** is off, it also sets the background of the whole banner.
* **Desktop content position:** Where the content sits on the banner on desktop: Top Left / Top Center / Top Right / Middle Left / Middle Center / Middle Right / Bottom Left / Bottom Center / Bottom Right.
* **Desktop content alignment:** Left / Center / Right.
* **Show container on desktop:** Shows the content on a solid box. Turn it off to place the text straight on the background.
* **Background image**
  * **Show background image:** Turn it off for a solid color background from **Color scheme**. If it's on but you haven't picked an image, a decorative default background is shown.
  * **Background image:** The banner image. A 16:9 image works best.
  * **Image overlay opacity:** Darkens the image so text is easier to read, 0–100%.
  * **Banner height:** Adapt to image / Small / Medium / Large / Full height. **Adapt to image** uses your image's own shape.
* **Mobile layout**
  * **Mobile content alignment:** Left / Center / Right.
  * **Show content below image on mobile:** Moves the content under the image on phones, instead of on top of it.

### 3. Block settings

Each block can be added once.

**Heading block**

* **Heading:** The main title, for example "Opening soon".

**Paragraph block**

* **Description:** A short message under the heading.
* **Text style:** Body / Subtitle.

**Email form block**

* The email field and subscribe button. It has no settings. Remove it if you only want to show a message.

### 4. Tips

* Use **Full height** with **Show background image** turned off for a clean, full-screen "coming soon" page in your brand color.
* If your image is busy, raise **Image overlay opacity** or turn on **Show container on desktop** so the text stays readable.
* To see what visitors see, open your store in a private browser window while password protection is on.
