# Live reel

Show a small, auto-playing video in the corner of your store that opens into a full shoppable reel with sound and a button.

The **Live reel** shows a small, muted video that floats in the bottom-right corner of the screen, like a social media story. When a shopper clicks it, the video opens large in the middle of the screen with sound controls and a button, such as **Shop Now**. Use it for a product demo, a new collection teaser or a message from your brand.

It lives in the **Overlay** group, so it can appear on every page.

### 1. Our guide to set up a Live reel section:

**Steps:**

* In the theme editor, click **Add section** in the **Overlay** group at the bottom of the sidebar.
* Locate **Live reel.**
* Upload your **Video.**
* Turn on **Enable test mode** while you edit, so the video shows on every refresh of the preview.
* Turn off **Enable test mode** before your store goes live, then click **Save.**

### 2. Section settings

* **Video**
  * **Enable test mode:** Shows the video on every page load, ignoring **Show on homepage only** and any earlier dismissals. Use it only while editing.
  * **Video:** The video to play. Use a vertical video with a 9:16 ratio for the best fit. If you don't upload one, a demo video is shown.
* **Display settings**
  * **Delay appearance:** Seconds to wait after the page loads before the video appears, 0–60 seconds.
  * **Frequency:** Minutes before the video can appear again after a shopper closes it, 1–30 minutes.
  * **Show on homepage only:** When on, the video only appears on your home page.
  * **Device:** Show on all devices / Only show on desktop / Only show on mobile.
* **Button**
  * **Button label:** The button shown on the opened video. Leave it blank to hide the button.
  * **Button link:** Where the button goes.
  * **Use outline button style:** Shows the button as an outline with a transparent background.
* **Colors**
  * **Button label** and **Button background:** Colors of the solid button.
  * **Button outline:** Text and border color of the outline button.

### 3. What shoppers see

* The small video plays on a loop without sound.
* Clicking it opens the large video. It starts muted; shoppers tap the speaker icon to turn on sound, and tap the video to pause or play.
* The close button or the Esc key closes the large video and returns to the small one.
* The close button on the small video hides it. It stays hidden for the rest of that browsing session, and after that until the **Frequency** time has passed.
* On mobile, it sits just above the [Mobile dock](/articles/sections/theme-sections/mobile-dock.md) if you use one.

### 4. Tips

* Always upload your own **Video**. Otherwise the demo video appears on your live store.
* Keep the video short, around 15–30 seconds, so it loops smoothly.
* **Device** is set to **Only show on desktop** by default. Choose **Show on all devices** to reach mobile shoppers too.
