# SEO & AI discovery

Add store information, customer service contacts and return policy details to your store's structured data, to help search engines and AI shopping assistants understand your business.

***

Search engines and AI shopping assistants read your store in two ways: the text shoppers see, and **structured data**. Structured data is a small, hidden block of code in each page that describes it in a standard format (schema.org JSON-LD). It says things like "this is a product, it costs $40 and it's in stock" or "this store's customer service email is …", so machines don't have to guess.

Clear structured data helps Google show extra details for your pages in search results, such as prices, availability and breadcrumbs, and helps AI assistants describe your store and products accurately. It doesn't guarantee higher rankings or rich results. Search engines decide what to show.

### 1. What InspiredTheme adds for you

InspiredTheme adds structured data automatically. You don't need to set anything up for these:

* **Product pages:** Product name, description, images, brand (vendor), SKU, barcode (GTIN), and each variant's price, currency and stock status. If a reviews app saves ratings to your products' review metafields, the rating is included too.
* **Collection pages:** The collection's name, description, image and link.
* **Breadcrumbs:** The path to the page, for example Home › Collection › Product, on product, collection, blog, article and pages.
* **Blog articles:** The article's title, content, excerpt and image.
* **FAQ section:** The questions and answers in the [FAQ](/articles/sections/theme-sections/collapsible-content.md) section.
* **Home page:** Your store's name, link, logo, social media links from [Social media](/articles/theme-settings/inspiredtheme-settings-intro/social-media.md), and a search box link.

The **SEO & AI discovery** settings add more details about your business to the home page structured data. None of it shows on your storefront.

### 2. Open the SEO & AI discovery settings:

{% hint style="info" %}
**Steps:**

* In the theme editor, click **Theme settings** (the gear icon) → **SEO & AI discovery.**
* Fill in the details.
* Click **Save.**
  {% endhint %}

### 3. Settings

* **Store information**
  * **Store description:** A short description of your business. If you leave it blank, your store's meta description from **Online Store** → **Preferences** in the Shopify admin is used.
* **Customer service contact**
  * **Contact email:** Your customer service email.
  * **Contact phone:** Your customer service phone number, with country code, for example +1-800-555-0199.
  * **Support language:** The main language your support team uses, for example English. It's only added when you've entered an email or phone number.
* **Return policy**
  * **Enable return policy structured data:** Adds your return policy to your store's structured data. The settings below only take effect when this is on.
  * **Return policy country:** The two-letter code of the country the policy applies to, for example US, GB or AU.
  * **Return window (days):** How many days customers have to return products. Enter 0 if you don't accept returns.
  * **Return method:** By mail / In store / At kiosk.
  * **Return fees:** Free returns / Customer pays return shipping / Restocking fee applies.
  * **Return policy page:** A link to your return policy page.

### 4. Test your structured data

{% hint style="info" %}
**Steps:**

* Open [Google's Rich Results Test](https://search.google.com/test/rich-results).
* Paste the link to a page of your live store, for example your home page or a product page, and click **Test URL**.
* Review the items Google found, and any errors or warnings.
  {% endhint %}

Test your live store, not a theme preview link. Your store must not be password protected, or Google can't read it.

### 5. Tips

* Make sure the details match what's on your store. For example, the return window here should match your return policy page.
* Write the **Store description** for people: one or two plain sentences about what you sell and who it's for.
* Good product data helps most: clear titles and descriptions, and SKUs and barcodes filled in for each variant in the Shopify admin.
